• Check balcony and terrace power points for rust or blackening around the plate.
• Feel your main switchboard — warmth or a burning smell is a same-day repair.
• Look for water stains on the ceiling near light fittings; seal from above before July 15.
• Test geyser earthing — a mild tingle when touching the tap means unsafe earth leakage.
• Replace any switch or socket that sparks, even faintly, when you plug in.
