Air cooler general service
₹399

For a large part of Hyderabad, the air cooler — not the AC — is what makes April and May survivable. And every summer the same story repeats: the cooler is pulled out of the store room in March, switched on, and it either throws warm air, leaks water across the floor, or hums without the pump running. HomeFix Hyderabad services and repairs every kind of cooler — desert coolers, personal/tower coolers, window-fit coolers and honeycomb models from Symphony, Bajaj, Crompton, Voltas, Havells, Usha, Orient, Kenstar, Blue Star and unbranded local units. A cooler is a simple machine, but it fails in predictable ways: the honeycomb pads clog with dust and salts, the submersible water pump seizes, the fan motor bearing dries out, the float valve jams, and the tank grows algae that makes the whole room smell. Our technicians strip, clean, repair and test the unit at your home with fixed pricing shown upfront and a 60-day warranty on labour.

The most frequent complaints are: cooler blowing warm air instead of cool, water pump not lifting water to the pads, fan running slow or making a grinding noise, water leaking from the bottom of the tank, a musty or fishy smell from the airflow, the cooler tripping the socket, the swing/louver mechanism stuck, and the remote or speed knob not responding. In Hyderabad specifically, dust from main roads in Malakpet, Dilsukhnagar and LB Nagar clogs honeycomb pads within a single season, while hard water leaves white salt deposits that harden the pads into a solid block — air simply cannot pass through and the cooler becomes a plain fan. Coolers stored on open balconies through the monsoon usually come back with a seized pump and a rusted motor shaft. We diagnose the actual failure point instead of blanket-replacing parts, and show you the removed part every time.
A proper cooler service is far more than a wipe-down. Our technician drains and scrubs the water tank to remove algae and sediment, removes all honeycomb or wood-wool pads and washes them (or advises replacement if they are salt-hardened), cleans the water distribution pipes and spray holes that are almost always blocked, dismantles and flushes the submersible pump impeller, cleans the fan blade and grille, oils the motor bearings, checks the float valve so the tank does not overflow, tests the capacitor and speed regulator, and verifies the plug, cord and earthing for safety. Finally the unit runs for 15 minutes to confirm airflow and cooling before we leave. A pre-summer service in March typically restores 90% of the cooling a two-year-old cooler has lost.
Honeycomb pad replacement (₹699) is the single biggest cooling upgrade you can buy for an old cooler. Clogged pads block airflow and stop evaporation, which is the entire cooling mechanism. We fit correctly sized cellulose honeycomb pads on all three sides, not undersized generic sheets. Water pump repair or replacement (₹449) covers the small submersible pump — most 'no water on pads' complaints are just a jammed impeller that we can free and clean, and only genuinely burnt pumps get replaced. Fan motor repair (₹599) covers noisy bearings, weak airflow, a burnt winding or a failed capacitor; rewinding is offered where it is economical and a new motor where it is not. We always tell you which option makes financial sense for the age of your cooler.
Leakage fix (₹349) is a common monsoon-season and summer-season call. Leaks come from a cracked plastic tank, a perished drain plug, an overflowing float valve, or a misaligned pad frame dripping water outside the body. Cracks in the tank are repairable with plastic welding in most cases. If your cooler smells, the cause is almost always algae in a tank that was left with standing water — our service includes a disinfectant wash that removes it. Cooler installation and fitting (₹499) covers window-fit coolers that need a proper frame and sealed opening, plus balcony or wall-support mounting for desert coolers so the vibration does not damage the tiles. We also handle end-of-season storage prep: full drain, dry-out, pad removal and cover.
Air coolers work brilliantly in Hyderabad's dry pre-monsoon heat of April and May, running at roughly a tenth of an AC's power consumption, and they need cross-ventilation — a window kept slightly open — to work properly. Once humidity rises in late June, evaporative cooling loses effectiveness and an AC becomes the better tool. Many of our customers keep both, using the cooler for six weeks of dry heat and the AC afterwards. If you already own both, we offer a combined pre-summer visit — cooler service plus AC jet cleaning in the same slot at a combo discount — which is cheaper and saves you a second visit charge.
Background-verified technicians, fixed pricing displayed before work starts, genuine pads, pumps, capacitors and motors, doorstep repair without carrying the cooler anywhere, a 60-day labour warranty, and same-day slots across Hyderabad seven days a week. Payment by cash, UPI or card after the job is done and tested. Our appliance technicians average 4.79/5 across 72,500+ jobs, and every visit ends with a short written report of what was repaired or replaced so you know exactly what you paid for.
